Industry Car dealerships
Payment processing for car, RV, and power sports dealerships
Big tickets, service departments, and fleet cards. Payments tied to every deal and repair order, and a faster month-end.
Why it's different here
What I look at for car dealerships
Dealerships take payments in more places than most businesses: deposits on deals, the service drive, parts, and sometimes the finance office. The tickets are large, so a small difference in markup is real money on every sale, and month-end reconciliation can eat days.
For dealers I can set up Dealer Genie, a payments system built for dealerships. It ties payments to repair orders, invoices, and deals, takes cards, ACH, and checks, sends payment links by text or email, handles refunds without asking for the card again, and takes fleet cards. Reconciliation by department gets your month closed faster.
Sample ticket
Where car dealerships usually lose money
Markup on large tickets
On a four- or five-figure payment, a few tenths of a percent is hundreds of dollars. Pricing should be built around your average ticket.
Month-end reconciliation
Matching deposits to deals and repair orders by hand is slow. Payments tied to the RO or deal make the close a report, not a project.
Refunds and deposits
Refunding a deposit should not require the customer to come back with the card.
Fleet and business cards
Fleet cards like WEX and commercial cards need the right setup, or they cost more than they should or get declined.
Customers who are not on site
Payment links by text or email let a customer approve and pay for service work without a phone call to read a card number.

Good to know
Questions owners ask me
Can customers pay for service by text?
Yes. The service advisor texts a payment link when the car is ready, the customer pays from their phone, and the repair order closes when they pay. No one reads card numbers over the phone.
It also shortens the line at the cashier window when everyone picks up after work.
Should a dealership accept ACH for big payments?
For large amounts, yes. ACH moves money straight from the customer's bank, usually costs far less than a card on a big ticket, and takes a few business days to settle.
It works well for wholesale deals, fleet customers and large parts accounts. Cards stay available for customers who want them.
How do I protect a vehicle deposit from a chargeback?
Get the deposit terms in writing and signed: the amount, what it holds, and when it is refundable. Take the card by tap or chip in person when you can, rather than keying it in.
If a buyer later disputes the deposit, that signed agreement and the receipt are what the bank looks at.
What should a dealer look for on its processing statement?
The markup above interchange. On large tickets, a small difference in that markup costs real money on every deal, and it is easy to hide inside blended or tiered pricing.
Also count your merchant accounts. Sales, service and parts each running their own account can mean monthly fees you never noticed.
