Industry Gyms and martial arts
Payment processing for gyms, studios, and martial arts schools
Membership billing that runs on its own, recovers failed payments, and does not quietly cost you members.
Why it's different here
What I look at for gyms and martial arts
A gym or martial arts school lives on recurring memberships. When billing works, you never think about it. When a card fails or expires, a member stops paying without anyone noticing, and that is revenue you never get back.
For gyms and schools I can set up GymDesk, which handles membership billing with failed-payment recovery, class booking, a member app, rank tracking for martial arts, and door access. Then I make sure the processing behind it is priced fairly for recurring payments.

Where gyms and martial arts usually lose money
Failed and expired cards
Every failed monthly payment is a member you might lose. Automatic retries and card updates recover most of them.
Billing done by hand
Chasing members for dues takes time away from teaching. Billing should run on schedule without you.
Recurring pricing
Card-on-file payments price differently from tapped cards. Your rates should reflect how you actually bill.
Retail and drop-ins
Gear, drinks, and drop-in classes need a simple way to take a card at the front desk.

Good to know
Questions owners ask me
How do I stop losing members to expired cards?
Turn on automatic card updates. The card brands offer services that send your billing system a member's new card number or expiration date when their bank replaces the card, so the next payment goes through.
Pair that with failed-payment reminders by text and email. GymDesk does both.
Can members pay dues by bank account?
Yes. ACH dues come straight from the member's bank account, usually cost less than cards, and don't fail when a card expires.
Payments can still bounce, for example when an account is short on funds, so keep a card on file as a backup if the member agrees.
Can I use my own processor with my gym software?
It depends on the software. Some gym platforms require their own payment processing, and others let you connect an outside merchant account.
Check before you sign a long agreement, because switching processors later may mean switching software too. I can look at what you use and tell you your options.
